The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Karachi, at 151 Main Khayaban-e-Hafiz in DHA Phase VI, is one of Thailand's two visa-issuing missions in Pakistan. The other is the Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad. Both use the online e-Visa system at thaievisa.go.th, and both accept only applicants who are in Pakistan.
The consulate's own website is thin on visa detail. Its most useful current documents are the 2026 holiday notice, which also gives office and visa-counter hours, and a contact page. For the e-Visa rules this page relies on the Islamabad embassy's "Thailand's E-Visa System in Pakistan" FAQ, which covers applications to both missions. Where Karachi has not published something, we say so.

The consulate's contact page gives two phone ranges: "3585 5405-6" in the body, last updated in 2022, and "35855406-8" in the site footer. 5406 appears in both. The same mismatch applies to the visa extension (101 in the footer, 102 in the 2022 body) and email ([email protected] in the footer, [email protected] in the body).
Islamabad or Karachi?
According to the Islamabad embassy's FAQ, the application "must be submitted to the Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad or the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Karachi where the applicant is currently located". Neither mission publishes a list of provinces on the pages we checked. If you are staying in Karachi, the consulate here is the obvious choice. If you are somewhere between the two cities and unsure, email [email protected] before paying, because fees are not refunded.
The same FAQ sets two conditions for all applications in Pakistan:
- You must be physically in Pakistan for the whole e-Visa process.
- You must upload proof of current location, such as a rental agreement, a utility bill or Pakistani immigration stamps. Applications without it are rejected.
Do You Need a Visa?
Pakistani citizens: plan on yes. Since 15 September 2026, Thailand's entry rules come from four Interior Ministry announcements published in the Royal Gazette on 31 August 2026. Pakistan is not on the 30-day exemption list, not on the visa-on-arrival list (now Azerbaijan, Belarus and Serbia only), and has no bilateral exemption for ordinary passports on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs list. Apply for an e-Visa before you travel.
Extensions are short. Thai Immigration Division 1's criteria cap tourism extensions at 7 days for Pakistani nationals, among nine nationalities. Get a visa that covers your whole trip.
Foreigners in Karachi follow the rules for their own passport. Most Western passports get 30 days visa-free since 15 September 2026; see visa exemption.
Common visa types: Tourist Visa, Non-Immigrant B, ED and O, and the DTV. Since 31 August 2026 DTV applicants apply through the mission for their country of nationality or permanent residence and add a criminal record certificate. The visa finder helps you choose.
How to Apply
- Create an account at thaievisa.go.th and select the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Karachi.
- Upload your passport biodata page, a recent photo, proof of current location in Pakistan and the documents for your visa type.
- Pay the fee using the payment option the portal and the consulate give you. The Islamabad FAQ says only that payment options for Karachi are set by the consulate itself, and the consulate's site does not describe them. Call extension 101 or email before you go.
- Print the approved e-Visa. The Islamabad FAQ says mobile or electronic copies are not accepted at check-in or by Thai immigration.
Genuine documents only. The FAQ warns that fake air tickets or hotel bookings lead to rejection and possible blacklisting of the applicant or the agent.
Fees and processing time
The Karachi consulate does not publish a fee table or a processing time on its site. The amount due appears on the payment document the e-Visa portal generates. For comparison only, the Islamabad embassy charges PKR 13,000 for a single-entry tourist visa and PKR 130,000 for the DTV, and states about 14 working days after payment. Karachi's figures may differ.
Practical Notes
Visa counter hours are short. The consulate's 2026 notice gives visa and legalisation services as 09:00-12:00, Monday to Friday. Its older contact page (2022) gave visa submission at 08:30-10:30 and collection at 11:00-12:00; that was before the e-Visa.
Remaining 2026 closures. The consulate's 2026 holiday list closes it on 13 October, 23 October, 7 December, 25 December (Quaid-e-Azam Day) and 31 December. Pakistani religious holidays move with the moon sighting, so check before any trip near Eid.
Thai nationals. Consular services for Thai nationals run 08:30-16:30 on working days. The consulate's site also has an emergency-numbers page for Thai nationals.
Before you fly. Complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card within 3 days before arrival and carry proof of funds (20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB per family). See financial requirements.
