The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Mumbai handles Thai visas for residents of four states: Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Goa. You apply online like everywhere else in India. The part that is different is payment: the fee is paid by demand draft, delivered to the consulate's visa section at Nariman Point, and the stated 14 working days only start once that payment is received.
Before any of that, check whether you need a visa at all. From 15 September 2026 Indian passport holders can visit Thailand for up to 30 days without a visa. Indians do not get visa on arrival, whatever older pages say, and that includes the consulate's own visa-on-arrival page, which has not been updated and still lists India for a 15-day visa on arrival. Nor is it the 60-day exemption that ran from July 2024. For a holiday of up to 30 days you just book your flight.

The consulate's jurisdiction page lists four states, and its e-Visa announcement repeats them: applicants residing in these states apply through Mumbai.

Note Madhya Pradesh. It is a central state, but it sits on the Mumbai consulate's list, not New Delhi's. If you live in Indore or Bhopal, apply under Mumbai.
The three consulates publish their state lists. The embassy's pages that we checked do not, so the New Delhi row above is simply everything not on the other three lists. If your state is not in the table, confirm with the embassy before you submit. Mumbai's list names no union territories, so residents of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, which borders Gujarat and Maharashtra, should confirm which mission takes their file before applying.
Do You Need a Visa?
Indian citizens are on Thailand's 30-day visa-exemption list from 15 September 2026. The exemption is for tourism: that is how the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi's own announcement of the change describe it. The embassy's visa page also says "tourism and short-term business engagements", so if your trip is for business, confirm with the embassy first.
Extensions are short for Indian passports. Most nationalities can extend a 30-day tourist stay once, by up to 30 days, at a Thai immigration office for 1,900 THB (form TM.7). The Immigration Division 1 criteria cap that extension at 7 days for Indian nationals (along with Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Nepal, Togo, Nigeria and Uganda). Plan on about 37 days in total, not 60, and confirm at the immigration counter, because the criteria page is undated. If you need longer than that, get a tourist visa before you fly.
Carry proof of funds (immigration can ask for 20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB per family) and an onward ticket inside the 30 days. File the TDAC arrival card within three days before landing. Exemption entries by land are capped at two per calendar year for Indian passports. If you entered before 15 September 2026, you keep the stay you were given.

How to Apply
- Apply at thaievisa.go.th and choose the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Mumbai. The consulate accepts applications made by you, by visa processing companies (it names BLS International, DU Digital and VFS Global), or by travel agents and representatives.
- Download the offline payment document that the e-Visa system generates after you submit. It shows the exact fee, a QR code and the payment deadline.
- Buy a demand draft for that amount, payable to "Royal Thai Consulate-General, Mumbai".
- Deliver the draft with the payment document to the visa section at Express Towers, Nariman Point, Monday to Friday between 10:00 and 12:00. Mumbai is the only place the consulate accepts payment.
- Pay within 14 days of submitting. The deadline is printed on the payment document.
- Wait up to 14 working days from payment for the approval email, then print it.
Fees are non-refundable in all cases, so check the application before you buy the draft.
Practical Notes
Fees across India. The April 2026 fee table applies at the embassy and all three consulates alike: transit INR 2,500, tourist INR 3,000 single or INR 13,500 multiple, Non-Immigrant INR 7,000 single, INR 13,500 multiple or INR 30,000 for a 3-year multiple entry, DTV INR 30,000, LTR INR 140,000, legalisation INR 1,400.
Legalisation is by appointment. Request a slot by email through the address on the consulate's contact page; the consulate replies with a date and time. The fee is Rs. 1,400 per page.
Holidays still ahead in 2026: 13 October, 23 October, 10 November (Diwali), 7 December, 25 December and 31 December. Holidays don't count as working days, so allow for them in the 14-day processing time.
What doesn't need a visit. Your passport and supporting documents are uploaded, not handed in. The only trip to Nariman Point is to deliver the draft, and an agent can do that for you.
