The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Jeddah is Thailand's second career mission in Saudi Arabia, alongside the Royal Thai Embassy in Riyadh. It sits in the Ash Sharafiyah district, and the Riyadh embassy refers visa applicants in the western part of the Kingdom here.
Visa applications no longer go through its counter. Since 19 March 2024 every Thai visa is applied for online, and the consulate's rule is simple: you must hold a Saudi Iqama (or a Saudi national ID) and be in Saudi Arabia when you apply. Saudi citizens going on holiday do not need a visa at all.

Which Areas This Mission Covers
The consulate says it accepts e-Visa applications from "passport holders of all nationals with residence permits (Iqama) in KSA". It does not publish a province list.
The Riyadh embassy fills in the split: its visa notice tells applicants "in the western part of Saudi Arabia" that they can apply at the consulate in Jeddah. Neither mission defines "western" by province, so treat Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah and the west coast as Jeddah's area and email the consulate if you live near the line. Residents of Riyadh, the Eastern Province, the centre or the north usually choose Riyadh. Residents of Lebanon can only use Riyadh; Jeddah covers Saudi Arabia alone.
Do You Need a Visa?
Saudi passport holders: no, for tourism. The consulate's visa page states: "SAUDI PASSPORT can travel to Thailand for Tourist purpose without a visa and can stay in Thailand for 30 days." The page was last updated in June 2025, but the figure matches the 30-day exemption list in force since 15 September 2026. You can extend once by up to 30 days at a Thai immigration office for 1,900 THB (how to extend).
What the exemption does and does not cover:
- Tourism only. Business trips or work need a visa.
- Officers may ask to see 20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB per family and an onward ticket.
- Land-border entries on the exemption are limited to twice per calendar year.
- The Thailand Digital Arrival Card (tdac.immigration.go.th) must be filed within three days before arrival.

Non-Saudi residents follow the rules for their own passport. Many Iqama holders need a visa, and the consulate asks non-Saudi applicants for two extra documents: a sponsor letter and a valid exit/re-entry visa from Absher. The visa finder tells you whether your passport needs a visa.
Apply through the consulate for a Tourist Visa, a Non-Immigrant visa (business, family, study) or the DTV.
How to Apply
- Watch the consulate's manual first. Its visa page links a user manual and video guide for the portal.
- Register at thaievisa.go.th and choose the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Jeddah.
- Enter your name exactly as in your passport. The consulate gives this example: "Mohammed Ahmad Ali Aljasmin" becomes Name "Mohammed Ahmad Ali", Surname "Aljasmin", or Name "Mohammed", Middle Name "Ahmad Ali", Surname "Aljasmin". Officers cannot correct your entries; a mistake means a new application and a new fee.
- Upload the documents:
- Passport information page, plus any page with issue, expiry or renewal details, merged into one JPG/JPEG under 3 MB
- A photo on a white background, taken within six months, at least 300 PPI
- Iqama or Saudi national ID as proof of current residence
- For non-Saudis: sponsor letter and Absher exit/re-entry visa
- Category documents listed on the portal
- Pay online. Fees are non-refundable regardless of the outcome.
- Wait up to 10 working days. If nothing changes after 7 working days, email [email protected].
Palestinian applicants holding Egyptian, Syrian or Lebanese travel documents should select "Travel Document" rather than "Passport" in the portal, as the consulate instructs. More detail on the portal: Thailand e-Visa guide.
Fees
The consulate's Tourist Visa page last published a processing fee of 160 SAR (non-refundable) for a single-entry tourist visa. That page is undated, predates the online system and still asks for bank statements of 5,000 SAR per person or 10,000 SAR per family. The portal shows the current amount before you pay. The consulate does not publish a fee table for other categories.
Practical Notes
Apply early, but not too early. The consulate recommends applying at least four weeks before travel and not more than three months before departure.
Counter services are for Thai nationals and legalisation. Passport, ID card, civil registration and legalisation applications are taken 09:00–14:00, Sunday to Thursday.
Holidays. The consulate observes both Thai and Saudi official holidays and posts closures on its Announcements page. Ramadan hours are reduced.
DTV rule change. Since 31 August 2026, DTV applicants must apply where they are a national or permanent resident and add a criminal record clearance certificate. The consulate has not said whether an Iqama counts as permanent residence, so ask before paying.
