The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Xiamen is the Thai visa office for Fujian and Jiangxi. If you live in Xiamen, Fuzhou, Quanzhou, Zhangzhou, Putian or Longyan, or across the border in Jiangxi (Nanchang, Ganzhou, Jiujiang, Jingdezhen), this is the mission you choose in the Thai e-Visa system. Fujian is not covered by Guangzhou, and Jiangxi is not covered by Shanghai, whatever older lists say.
The consulate opened on 19 September 2005 in Building No. 3 of the City Hotel Xiamen, and it is still there. It is one of only three foreign consulates-general in Xiamen, alongside Singapore and the Philippines. Chinese citizens can visit Thailand visa-free for up to 30 days, so the consulate's visa work is mainly longer stays, Non-Immigrant visas, the DTV and foreign residents of the two provinces.

Which Areas This Consulate Covers
The consulate's history page says its jurisdiction covers two provinces: Fujian and Jiangxi. Its site has information pages for each city in both provinces, from Ningde and Nanping in Fujian to Yichun and Shangrao in Jiangxi.

Jiangxi residents are the ones to watch. Nanchang is much closer to Wuhan than to Xiamen, but Jiangxi is Xiamen's district, so choose Xiamen in the e-Visa portal.
Do You Need a Visa?
Chinese citizens: not for tourism of up to 30 days. The Thailand-China mutual exemption agreement, in force since 1 March 2024, allows 30 days per entry and no more than 90 days in any 180-day period. The consulate keeps a page on the agreement. Thailand's exemption changes of 15 September 2026 did not alter it.
- One extension of up to 30 days is available at a Thai immigration office for 1,900 THB (visa exemption extension).
- The exemption is for tourism. Business, work and study need a visa.
- Carry evidence of 20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB per family.
- Complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card at tdac.immigration.go.th within three days before arrival.
Foreign residents of Fujian and Jiangxi follow the rule for their own passport. Check with the visa finder.
You need the consulate for a Tourist Visa (60 days per entry), Non-Immigrant visas (B, ED, O), the DTV, and SMART or LTR visas.
How to Apply
Visa applications for anyone in mainland China go through thaievisa.go.th, under the fee notice issued jointly by the Embassy and all mainland consulates-general. Stickerless e-Visas have been used on the mainland since 27 September 2021.
- Register at thaievisa.go.th and choose your visa type.
- Select the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Xiamen if you live in Fujian or Jiangxi.
- Upload the documents the portal lists for your category.
- Pay the fee online. It is non-refundable.
- Print the approval email for the airline and Thai immigration.
The consulate's visa page carries checklist images for transit, tourist and Non-Immigrant B, ED, IB and O visas dated 1 March 2024. Where they differ from what the e-Visa portal asks for, follow the portal.
DTV since 31 August 2026: add proof of permanent residence in your country of nationality or permanent residence, and a criminal record clearance from that country, per the Royal Thai Embassy Beijing notice for applicants in China.

Practical Notes
One email for everything. The consulate lists a single address, [email protected], and one phone number. Write in English or Chinese and include your e-Visa application number.
Short counter hours. The consular and visa section is open 09:00–11:30 and 13:30–15:30 on weekdays, for legalisation and other document services. The rest of the office keeps 09:00–17:00 with a lunch break.
The holiday list is out of date. When we checked on 27 September 2026, the consulate's holiday page still showed its 2025 list. It closes on both Thai and Chinese public holidays, so call before visiting around National Day in early October.
No processing time is published. Allow three to four weeks, and more for Non-Immigrant visas.
