The Royal Thai Embassy in Dhaka, at 18 & 20 Madani Avenue in Baridhara, is where Bangladeshi applicants, and foreigners living in Bangladesh, send their Thai visa applications. Applications are made online at thaievisa.go.th, and the fee is paid online through one of two bank payment platforms.
Bangladeshi passport holders should plan on needing a visa. Bangladesh is not on any of the visa-exemption or visa-on-arrival lists that took effect on 15 September 2026, so there is no visa-free or on-arrival route for a Bangladeshi passport.

Do You Need a Visa?
Bangladeshi citizens: yes, in practice. Four Interior Ministry announcements published in the Royal Gazette on 31 August 2026 set Thailand's entry rules from 15 September 2026. Bangladesh is on none of them:
- It is not among the 60 countries and territories with a 30-day visa exemption.
- Visa on Arrival now covers only Azerbaijan, Belarus and Serbia. Bangladesh was not on the previous (July 2024) VOA list either.
- Bangladesh has no bilateral visa-exemption agreement for ordinary passports on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' list.
We have not seen a Dhaka embassy notice that addresses the change directly. Until the embassy says otherwise, apply for an e-Visa before you travel and do not count on VOA at the airport. Anyone with a travel date close to the change should confirm with the embassy at [email protected]. Official passport holders should check the bilateral list for their passport type.
Extensions are short. Thai Immigration Division 1's published criteria cap tourism extensions at 7 days for nine nationalities, Bangladesh among them. Choose a visa that covers your whole trip rather than relying on an extension in Thailand.
Foreigners living in Bangladesh follow the rules for their own passport. For example, most Western passports get 30 days visa-free since 15 September 2026; see visa exemption and the 30-day rule change.
Options for Bangladeshi travellers:
- Tourist Visa (TR): single entry, 60 days per entry
- Non-Immigrant B for business or work, ED for study, O for family or retirement
- Destination Thailand Visa (DTV): since 31 August 2026, apply through the mission for your country of nationality or permanent residence, with a criminal record certificate. For a Bangladeshi in Bangladesh that is Dhaka.
- The visa finder matches a visa to your purpose.
How to Apply
- Create an account at thaievisa.go.th and choose the Royal Thai Embassy, Dhaka.
- Fill in the form and upload your documents. For first-time applicants the embassy asks for both previous (if any) and current passports.
- Download the Payment Information Summary (PIS).
- Pay online through the Commercial Bank of Ceylon platform (combank.net.bd/thaievisa) or Eastern Bank's platform (onboarding.ebl-bd.com/thaipayment/start). The payment window is 09:00-12:00 on the embassy's working days.
- Upload the PIS page to the e-Visa platform so the embassy can match your payment.
- Print the approved e-Visa and carry it with your passport.
The embassy's payment notice (6 August 2025) is strict: the amount paid must exactly match the total on the PIS, split payments are not accepted, applications with the wrong amount are rejected, and payments are not refunded.
Fake documents. The embassy's Announcement No. 4/2568 (September 2025) warns that applications with fake or suspicious documents will be rejected or cancelled. It advises applying personally at thaievisa.go.th, using hotel bookings confirmed directly by hotels or reputable platforms, and providing bank documents signed and issued by bank officials (e-statements are not accepted). A separate advisory asks applicants who experience fraud or abuse to report it to [email protected] or [email protected] with evidence.

The embassy adjusts its taka fees to follow the exchange rate. The schedule in force from 1 September 2025:

Read 27 Sep 2026. The embassy says it may change these amounts again as the taka moves, and a PIS generated earlier is replaced by the new amount. Pay what your current PIS shows.
Practical Notes
Friday and Saturday are closed. The embassy works Sunday to Thursday, matching the Bangladeshi week, not the Thai one.
Processing time. The embassy's tourist visa page says a Thai tourist visa takes 7 working days from submission, and advises applying at least two weeks before travel. That page predates the online system, so allow more time, especially in the October to March high season.
Apply from Bangladesh. Thai missions elsewhere treat Bangladeshi applicants with no residence in their country more slowly. The Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon, for example, lists Bangladesh among nationalities whose applications there need Ministry of Foreign Affairs approval, taking up to 4 weeks, and advises applying in your home country.
Before you fly. Complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card within 3 days before arrival and carry proof of onward travel and funds. The financial requirements page covers the amounts.
