The Koh Samui Immigration Office serves one of Thailand's most popular islands for both tourists and long-term residents. It is a unit of Surat Thani Provincial Immigration, and the provincial office's contact page (read 27 September 2026) gives its address as 333 Maenam Road, Soi 1, Moo 1, Tambon Maenam, on Samui's north coast, with phone 077-423-440. Older guides, including an earlier version of this page, placed it in Na Thon. Use the Maenam address, and call before you make the trip if your map app disagrees.
The Samui unit handles visa extensions, 90-day reporting, re-entry permits and other immigration services for foreigners living on Samui. Koh Phangan and Koh Tao have their own units under the same provincial office (see below), so island residents there normally don't need to come to Samui.

Don't confuse it with: the provincial office's Investigation and Suppression Section, which the same contact page lists separately at 63/105 Bophut (077-332-071). Extensions and 90-day reports go to the Maenam unit.
Google Maps: Search the full Maenam address rather than "Koh Samui Immigration Na Thon". Old map pins in Na Thon may be out of date.
How to Get There
Maenam is on Samui's north coast, on the ring road between Bophut and Na Thon. Grab, songthaews, taxis and rented scooters all serve the area. Put the full address into your app before you set off, and allow extra time from the south of the island.
Coming from another island: Koh Phangan and Koh Tao have their own immigration units, so check with yours first. If you do need Samui, confirm which Samui pier your ferry uses and how you'll get from there to Maenam.
Opening Hours
The provincial contact page doesn't list hours for the Samui unit, and the Immigration Bureau's office-hours list names only the Surat Thani office (Monday-Friday, 08:30-16:30) and the Samui Airport checkpoint. Expect the same Monday-Friday government hours, closed on weekends and Thai public holidays, but call 077-423-440 to confirm, especially before a holiday.
Book a slot. The Immigration Bureau's Division 6 appointment page has a separate calendar for "Suratthani Immigration (Samui)". Book online if you can, and arrive early on the day.
Samui Airport checkpoint is a separate point of entry, open daily 05:00-22:00 according to the Immigration Bureau. It checks arriving passengers; it is not where residents file extensions.

The window runs from 15 days before to 7 days after your due date. Late reports mean going in person and paying 2,000 THB. After your first report, you can file online at tm47.immigration.go.th.

The Visit

Waiting times vary with the season and the type of application. High season is usually busier, so allow most of a morning for an extension.
Tips for a Smooth Visit
Before You Go
- Prepare all documents before leaving your accommodation. Make copies at your hotel or a local shop.
- Pre-fill application forms. Download TM.7, TM.47, or TM.8 forms from the Immigration Bureau website and complete them at home.
- Bring extra passport photos.
- Withdraw cash before arriving.
- Check the address. Use the Maenam address, not Na Thon.
Island-Specific Tips
- TM30 for island accommodations: Hotels and guesthouses on Samui generally handle TM30 filing. If you are renting a private villa or house, confirm that your landlord has filed TM30 before your immigration visit.
- Banking on the island: If you need a Thai bank letter for a retirement extension, request it a few days before your immigration appointment to allow processing time.
- Wet season: From October through December, rough seas can disrupt ferries. If you are coming from another island, have a backup plan.
- Visa agents: Samui has fewer visa agents than Pattaya or Bangkok. Ask at your hotel or check expat groups for current recommendations.
Do You Need a Visa?
Since 15 September 2026, nationals of 60 countries and territories, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, most of Europe and India, get a 30-day visa exemption for tourism. For longer stays you need a visa. Since 31 August 2026 the DTV must be applied for in your country of nationality or permanent residence, with a criminal record certificate. Retirees need a Non-Immigrant O or O-A.

The Koh Samui Immigration Office is in Maenam, on the north coast, not in Na Thon as many older guides say. Book a slot on the Samui calendar, bring every document and cash for the fee, and call 077-423-440 if anything about your case is unusual.
