Mae Hong Son Provincial Immigration (ตรวจคนเข้าเมืองจังหวัดแม่ฮ่องสอน) handles visa extensions, 90-day reports, re-entry permits and TM30 for foreigners living in Mae Hong Son province, and that includes Pai. The main office is at 202 Moo 11, Tambon Pang Mu, in Mueang Mae Hong Son district. If you live in Pai, you do not have to drive to the provincial capital to find an office: the office lists a Pai branch of its own at 121 Moo 1, Tambon Wiang Tai, Pai, with its own phone line and its own online booking calendar. A third branch serves Mae Sariang in the south of the province.

Which Office Serves Your District
According to the office's history page, all seven of Mae Hong Son's districts border Myanmar. The office runs three service points:

The office does not publish a district-by-district split, so the table above follows geography. Call the branch nearest you first and ask whether it takes your case.
Pai residents. The Pai branch is part of Mae Hong Son Immigration, not a separate office. In November 2022 the provincial chief and the office's immigration-service staff held a briefing in the Pai branch's meeting room for Pai schools and foundations that employ foreigners, covering extensions of stay, online TM30 and online 90-day reporting. The office does not publish a list of which services the Pai branch handles, so for an annual retirement or marriage extension, call 053-699-229 before you go. The office also put a new Pai branch building out to electronic tender in July 2025. When it opens the address may change, so check the office's website or Facebook page before your visit.
Mae Sariang residents. The office's website gives the Mae Sariang branch address two different ways (127/1 Moo 10 on one page, 127/10 Moo 1 on another), so we have not printed a house number. Call 053-681-339 for directions.
Getting There
The main office is in Tambon Pang Mu, Mueang Mae Hong Son district, in a building it has used since January 2005. The office's contact page links a map pin for each of the three service points.
Services and What to Bring
Extension of a visa-exempt or tourist stay
The Immigration Bureau's published documents:
- Form TM.7, filed by you in person
- Copies of your passport photo page, visa (if any) and latest entry stamp
- One photo, 4 x 6 cm, taken within the last six months
- 1,900 THB fee
Under the Bureau's criteria, nationals of Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Nepal, Togo, Nigeria and Uganda get no more than 7 days. Everyone else can get up to 30 days. See the visa exemption extension guide.
Retirement and marriage extensions
National criteria, fee 1,900 THB:
- Retirement: age 50 or over, and either 65,000 THB a month in income, or 800,000 THB in a Thai bank held for two months before applying and three months after approval (then not below 400,000 THB), or a combination totalling 800,000 THB. See the retirement extension guide.
- Marriage to a Thai national: average income of 40,000 THB a month, or 400,000 THB in a Thai bank held for the previous two months. Both spouses attend in person.
90-day report (TM.47)
Free. The window runs from 15 days before to 7 days after your due date; miss it and you report in person and pay 2,000 THB. Re-entry permit (TM.8)

TM30
The house owner, landlord or guesthouse reports where you are staying, online at tm30.immigration.go.th. Bring the TM30 receipt to the office if you have one. See the TM30 guide.
Do You Need a Visa?
Since 15 September 2026, nationals of 60 countries and territories, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, most of Europe and India, get a 30-day visa exemption for tourism, replacing the 60-day scheme. Anyone who entered before 15 September keeps the stay they were given. Seychelles and Mauritius get 15 days; Azerbaijan, Belarus and Serbia are the only nationalities still on Visa on Arrival. On arrival the officer can ask for 20,000 THB per person (40,000 THB per family) and an onward ticket within your stay, and you must file the TDAC within 3 days before arrival. You can extend a 30-day exempt stay once, by up to 30 days, for 1,900 THB, which gives about 60 days in total (7 days for the nationalities listed above). Longer stays need a visa: usually the DTV for remote workers (applied for where you are a national or permanent resident since 31 August 2026) or a Non-Immigrant O for retirees. Try the visa finder.
Myanmar Border Points and Visa Runs
The office's history page lists five border points with Myanmar in the province: Ban Huai Phueng (Mueang district, about 50 km from town), Ban Nam Phiang Din (Mueang, about 28 km), Ban Huai Ton Nun (Khun Yuam, about 110 km), Ban Sao Hin (Mae Sariang) and Ban Mae Sam Laep (Sop Moei). All five are border-trade relaxation points (จุดผ่อนปรนเพื่อการค้าชายแดน) opened by provincial announcement for local trade, not permanent international checkpoints. The Immigration Bureau's office-hours list names three of them under Mae Hong Son but publishes no opening hours for any.
We found no official source saying foreign tourists can leave Thailand and re-enter through these points, so do not plan a visa run around them. Check with the office on 053-612-106 before you go anywhere near the border. The nearest permanent crossings to Myanmar are outside the province, at Mae Sai in Chiang Rai and at Mae Sot in Tak.
