Phang Nga Immigration (ตรวจคนเข้าเมืองจังหวัดพังงา) is the office for every foreigner living in Phang Nga province, and that includes Khao Lak. There is no immigration office in Khao Lak itself: the provincial office in the Phang Nga town area handles extensions, 90-day reports, re-entry permits and TM30 for Takua Pa, Khao Lak, Thai Mueang, Koh Yao and the rest of the province. The thing to know in 2026 is that the office moved on 14 May 2026. Its current address is 21 Moo 3, Tambon Nop Pring, Mueang Phang Nga. Map pins and guides from before May may send you to the wrong building.

Closing time: two official sources disagree. The office website's header gives Monday-Friday 08:30-12:00 and 13:00-18:00. The Immigration Bureau's list of unit hours gives 08:30-16:30. Plan to arrive well before 16:00, and call 076-460-512 if you need a late slot.
The May 2026 Move
On 8 May 2026 the office announced that it would move to a new building from 14 May 2026, with one exception: the detention and removal unit (งานควบคุมผู้ต้องกัก). The office's contact page now gives two addresses:

For an extension or a 90-day report, go to Nop Pring. The Tham Nam Phut address is the detention unit, not a service counter. Type the full Nop Pring address into your map app rather than searching for "Phang Nga immigration", which may still find the old site.
Khao Lak, Koh Yao and the Rest of the Province
All of Phang Nga province files at the provincial office. That means a round trip from Khao Lak to the Phang Nga town area for anything that can't be done online, so book a slot and bring every document the first time.

Older traveller forum posts describe a weekly mobile immigration service in Khao Lak. The office's current website does not mention one, so don't count on it: ask on 076-460-512.
Neighbouring provinces have their own offices. Many Khao Lak residents fly in and out through Phuket, but Phuket Immigration is the office for Phuket province, not Phang Nga. Krabi Immigration and Ranong Immigration cover their own provinces.
Services and What to Bring
Extension of a visa-exempt or tourist stay
The Immigration Bureau's published documents:
- Form TM.7, filed by you in person
- Copies of your passport photo page, visa (if any) and latest entry stamp
- One photo, 4 x 6 cm, taken within the last six months
- 1,900 THB fee
Nationals of Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Nepal, Togo, Nigeria and Uganda get no more than 7 days under the Bureau's criteria. Everyone else can get up to 30 days. See visa exemption extension.
Retirement and marriage extensions
National criteria, fee 1,900 THB. Retirement: age 50 or over, and either 65,000 THB a month in income, or 800,000 THB in a Thai bank held for two months before applying and three months after approval (then not below 400,000 THB), or a combination totalling 800,000 THB. Marriage to a Thai national: average income of 40,000 THB a month, or 400,000 THB in a Thai bank held for the previous two months. See the retirement extension guide.
90-day report (TM.47)
Free. File from 15 days before to 7 days after the due date; late reports mean going in person and paying 2,000 THB, or 5,000 THB if you're caught. The first report can't be filed online: make it in person, through someone you authorise, or by registered post at least 15 days before the due date. After that, the office website links the online system at tm47.immigration.go.th, which saves Khao Lak residents the drive. See the 90-day reporting guide.
Re-entry permit and TM30
Re-entry permit: 1,000 THB single, 3,800 THB multiple; leaving without one cancels an extension (re-entry permit guide). TM30: your landlord or hotel reports your address; the office website links the online TM30 system (TM30 guide).
Do You Need a Visa?
Since 15 September 2026, nationals of 60 countries and territories, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, most of Europe and India, get a 30-day visa exemption for tourism, replacing the 60-day scheme. Seychelles and Mauritius get 15 days; Azerbaijan, Belarus and Serbia are the only nationalities still on Visa on Arrival. Most visitors to Khao Lak arrive through Phuket airport, where the officer can ask for 20,000 THB per person (40,000 THB per family) and an onward ticket; file the TDAC at tdac.immigration.go.th within 3 days before arrival. At this office you can extend a 30-day exempt stay once, by up to 30 days, for 1,900 THB (7 days for the nationalities above). For longer stays you need a visa, usually applied for at thaievisa.go.th before you travel: the DTV for remote workers (since 31 August 2026, only in your country of nationality or permanent residence), a Non-Immigrant O for retirees. Nearby Border Crossings
Phang Nga has no land border. The nearest Myanmar crossing is Ranong-Kawthaung, by boat, north of Khao Lak; see Ranong Immigration. We could not confirm that foreign tourists can currently use it for a visa run, so check before you go. Malaysia is reached via Hat Yai (Malaysia visa run). The Thai-Cambodian land border has been closed since July 2025, and exempt entries through land borders are capped at two per calendar year since 15 September 2026.

- Book online. The office website links a booking calendar ("PhangngaImmigrationOffice"), and the Immigration Bureau's Division 6 page lists the same one.
- Online extension portal. The website links the Bureau's e-Extension system at thaiextension.vfsevisa.com, run by VFS Global. Check whether your extension type is covered before you drive over.
- Holiday closures are posted as notices on the office website, in Thai and English (for example, its June 2026 public holiday announcement).
