Krabi Immigration (ตรวจคนเข้าเมืองจังหวัดกระบี่) handles visa extensions, 90-day reports, re-entry permits and TM30 for foreigners living anywhere in Krabi province, including Ao Nang, Railay, Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta. The mistake to avoid is going to the old address. Some listings, including the Immigration Bureau's own contact spreadsheet, still give 116 Uttarakit Road in Krabi Town. The office's website, and its own monthly reports, put it at 382 Moo 7, Tambon Sai Thai. And if you live on Koh Lanta, there is no separate island branch: you come to Sai Thai.

Is there an immigration office on Koh Lanta? Not one that serves residents. The Immigration Bureau does list a Koh Lanta pier checkpoint under Krabi, open 24 hours, but it appears alongside the airport and the Sai Thai and Chao Fah piers as a point of entry, not as a service office. The Krabi office's website lists no Lanta branch, and the Immigration Bureau's online appointment page for Division 6 lists branch offices separately where they exist (Surat Thani has a separate "Samui" entry, for example) but has only one entry for Krabi. From Lanta, plan on a full day on the mainland, and book a slot online first.
Neighbouring provinces have their own offices: Phuket Immigration for Phuket, and separate Phang Nga and Trang offices, which each have a booking calendar on the Division 6 page (Phuket has none there).
Getting There
The office is in Sai Thai subdistrict, outside the old town centre in Pak Nam. If a map app or an older guide sends you to Uttarakit Road in town, it is out of date: the office's own August 2024 report records an arrest made "at the Krabi Immigration office, 382 Moo 7, Sai Thai". From Ao Nang or Krabi Town, plan on a car or taxi.
Services and What to Bring
Extension of a visa-exempt or tourist stay
The Immigration Bureau's published documents:
- Form TM.7, filed by you in person
- Copies of your passport photo page, visa (if any) and latest entry stamp
- One photo, 4 x 6 cm, taken within the last six months
- 1,900 THB fee
Under the Bureau's criteria, nationals of Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Nepal, Togo, Nigeria and Uganda get no more than 7 days. For everyone else it is up to 30 days. More in our visa exemption extension guide.
Retirement and marriage extensions
National criteria, same fee of 1,900 THB:
- Retirement: age 50 or over, and either 65,000 THB a month in income, or 800,000 THB in a Thai bank held for two months before applying and three months after approval (then not below 400,000 THB), or a combination totalling 800,000 THB. See the retirement extension guide.
- Marriage to a Thai national: average income of 40,000 THB a month, or 400,000 THB in a Thai bank held for the previous two months. Both spouses attend in person.
Expect checks. Krabi's monthly report for August 2024 records officers visiting a hotel business to verify a British applicant's business-based extension, and a home in Krabi Town to verify an American applicant's marriage-based one. In both cases the officers found the application met the criteria.
90-day report (TM.47)
Free. The window runs from 15 days before to 7 days after your due date; miss it and you report in person and pay 2,000 THB. Your first report can't be filed online: make it at the office, through someone you authorise, or by registered post. After that you can use tm47.immigration.go.th, which the Krabi website links. Do You Need a Visa?
Since 15 September 2026, nationals of 60 countries and territories, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, most of Europe and India, get a 30-day visa exemption for tourism, replacing the 60-day scheme. Anyone who entered before 15 September keeps the stay they were given. Seychelles and Mauritius get 15 days; Azerbaijan, Belarus and Serbia are the only nationalities still on Visa on Arrival. At Krabi airport the officer can ask for 20,000 THB per person (40,000 THB per family) and an onward ticket within your stay, and you must file the TDAC at tdac.immigration.go.th within 3 days before arrival. At this office you can extend a 30-day exempt stay once, by up to 30 days, for 1,900 THB, giving about 60 days in total (7 days, not 30, for the nationalities on the Bureau's list above). For longer stays you need a visa. Most are applied for at thaievisa.go.th from outside Thailand: remote workers usually look at the DTV. Retirees need a Non-Immigrant O; the Immigration Bureau also lists changing to a retirement Non-O inside Thailand for people aged 50 or over, so ask the office whether your entry qualifies. Practical Notes
- Book online. The Krabi website and the Immigration Bureau's Division 6 appointment page both link a booking calendar for "Krabi Immigration".
- Mind the lunch break. The office publishes 08:30-12:00 and 13:00-16:30. Arriving at 12:10 means waiting.
- Online extension portal. The Krabi website links the Bureau's e-Extension system at thaiextension.vfsevisa.com, run by VFS Global. Check on the portal whether your type of extension is covered before assuming you can skip the trip.
- Holiday closures: check the office's Facebook page (KrabiImm), which its website links.
