Kanchanaburi Provincial Immigration (ตรวจคนเข้าเมืองจังหวัดกาญจนบุรี) is the office for foreigners who live anywhere in Kanchanaburi province, from the town and the River Kwai area out to Sai Yok, Thong Pha Phum and Sangkhla Buri. It handles extensions of stay, 90-day reports, re-entry permits and TM30. Its office is at 100/22 Tambon Pak Phraek in Mueang Kanchanaburi, and it is open Monday to Friday, 08:30-16:30. The same office also runs the province's Myanmar border posts at Ban Phu Nam Ron and Three Pagodas Pass. Neither is a confirmed visa-run route for foreign passport holders, so check before you go.

Which Areas This Office Covers
Kanchanaburi Immigration is one of the provincial offices listed under Immigration Division 3, and it covers the whole province. If you live in Kanchanaburi town, Tha Muang, Tha Maka, Sai Yok, Thong Pha Phum or Sangkhla Buri, your extension and first 90-day report go here.
There is also an immigration checkpoint at Sangkhla Buri (ด่านตรวจคนเข้าเมืองสังขละบุรี), which is part of the same office. Its published work is border and enforcement duty. We found no official page saying it takes extension applications, so if you live out there, plan on the trip to town or call 034-564-279 first.
Neighbouring provinces have their own offices. The Division 3 list includes separate offices for Suphan Buri, Ratchaburi and Nakhon Pathom. If you live in Bangkok, you file at Chaeng Wattana, which is Immigration Division 1.
Getting There
The office is in Pak Phraek subdistrict, part of Mueang Kanchanaburi, the provincial capital. The office's own contact page embeds a map pin under its Thai name, which is the most reliable thing to give a driver. If you are coming from upcountry, note the Sai Yok permanent checkpoint on the road from Sangkhla Buri and Thong Pha Phum. The Immigration Bureau lists it as staffed 24 hours, so carry your passport on that road.
Services and What to Bring
The office website's service panel links the Immigration Bureau's own pages for extensions, visa changes and 90-day reports. Its monthly reports show a busy counter: in May 2026 it recorded 61 short extensions, 72 long-stay extensions, 51 re-entry permits and 15,134 90-day reports.
Extension of a visa-exempt or tourist stay
The Immigration Bureau's published documents:
- Form TM.7, filed by you in person
- Copies of your passport photo page, visa (if any) and latest entry stamp
- One photo, 4 x 6 cm, taken within the last six months
- 1,900 THB fee
Nationals of Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Nepal, Togo, Nigeria and Uganda get no more than 7 days under the Bureau's criteria. Everyone else can get up to 30 days. More in our visa exemption extension guide.
Retirement and marriage extensions
The national criteria apply, and the fee is 1,900 THB:
- Retirement: age 50 or over, and either 65,000 THB a month in income, or 800,000 THB in a Thai bank held for two months before applying and three months after approval (then not below 400,000 THB), or a combination totalling 800,000 THB. See the retirement extension guide.
- Marriage to a Thai national: average income of 40,000 THB a month, or 400,000 THB in a Thai bank held for the previous two months. Both spouses attend in person.
Expect a follow-up visit. The office publishes its random checks on extension applications: on 31 December 2025, for example, its investigation team visited a company in Tha Muang to verify a Non-B work extension, and found no breach.
90-day report (TM.47)
Free. The window runs from 15 days before to 7 days after your due date. Your first report can't be filed online; make it at the office, through someone you authorise, or by registered post. After that, use tm47.immigration.go.th, which the office website links. Details: 90-day reporting guide.
Re-entry permit (TM.8)
1,000 THB single, 3,800 THB multiple. Leaving Thailand without one cancels your extension of stay. See the re-entry permit guide.
TM30
Owners, landlords and hotels report foreign guests. The office website links the online system at tm30.immigration.go.th, and its reports show officers checking guesthouses for missed reports under sections 37 and 38 of the Immigration Act. See the TM30 guide.
Do You Need a Visa?
Since 15 September 2026, nationals of 60 countries and territories, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, most of Europe and India, get a 30-day visa exemption for tourism. Seychelles and Mauritius get 15 days. Azerbaijan, Belarus and Serbia are the only nationalities still on Visa on Arrival. The officer can ask for 20,000 THB per person (40,000 THB per family), and you file the TDAC at tdac.immigration.go.th within 3 days before arrival. Myanmar nationals have a separate bilateral arrangement: 14 days visa-free, at airports only. It does not apply at the Kanchanaburi land crossings.
At this office you can extend a 30-day exempt stay once, by up to 30 days, for 1,900 THB (7 days for the nationalities listed above). For longer stays you need a visa, usually applied for at thaievisa.go.th. Remote workers look at the DTV, which since 31 August 2026 can only be applied for where you are a national or permanent resident. Retirees need a Non-Immigrant O. The visa finder will narrow it down.
Myanmar Border Crossings: Check Before You Go
Kanchanaburi Immigration staffs two points on the Myanmar border. Our position, last checked 27 September 2026: we could not confirm that foreign passport holders can currently use either one for a visa run.
- Ban Phu Nam Ron (Moo 12, Tambon Ban Kao, Mueang Kanchanaburi), facing Htee Kee on the road to Dawei. The Immigration Bureau lists it as a permanent border crossing open daily 06:00-18:00, and the office's May 2026 report shows its officers on duty there. Neither source says whether third-country nationals are being processed in both directions, or what Myanmar requires on its side.
- Three Pagodas Pass (Ban Phra Chedi Sam Ong, Sangkhla Buri). The Bureau lists it as a relaxation point (จุดผ่อนปรน), open daily 06:00-18:00, and the office's reports call it a border-trade point and temporary tourism crossing. That is not the same as a permanent international checkpoint. We found no official statement that foreigners get a new Thai entry stamp there.
Two rules apply even when a crossing is open. Visa-exempt entries by land are capped at two per calendar year (Malaysian, Bruneian, Indonesian and Singaporean nationals excepted), and the exemption is for tourism only. Call the office on 034-564-279 before you travel. The Cambodia land border has been closed since July 2025, so it is no fallback. More options: Myanmar visa run, Laos visa run, Malaysia visa run.
Practical Notes
- No lunch break is published. The Bureau lists 08:30-16:30. For holiday closures, call ahead.
- Online extension portal. The office website links the e-Extension system at thaiextension.vfsevisa.com. Check whether your type of extension is covered before skipping the trip.

Can I do a visa run at Three Pagodas Pass?
We could not confirm it. The Immigration Bureau classes Three Pagodas as a relaxation point, open 06:00-18:00, not a permanent international checkpoint, and no official source we found says foreigners are stamped back in there. Call the office first.
Is the Phu Nam Ron border open to foreigners?
The Bureau lists Ban Phu Nam Ron as a permanent crossing open daily 06:00-18:00, and Kanchanaburi officers were working there in May 2026. Whether foreign passport holders can currently cross to Htee Kee and back is unconfirmed. Check with the office before you go, and remember the limit of two exempt land entries a year.
I live in Sangkhla Buri. Where do I do my 90-day report?
Your first report goes to the Kanchanaburi office, in person, through someone you authorise, or by registered post. After that you can file online at tm47.immigration.go.th. We found no official page saying the Sangkhla Buri checkpoint takes reports.
Can Myanmar nationals enter visa-free at Kanchanaburi?
Not under the bilateral exemption. Myanmar nationals get 14 days visa-free at airports only, so the exemption does not cover arrival at Phu Nam Ron or Three Pagodas. Ask the office which documents apply to your case.
